Teen Readers

Book Club Subscription for Teen readersThere's a persistent myth that teens don't read. It's true that many teens, maybe even most, don't read, but surprisingly there are an awful lot who do. And the current writing for teens! It's wonderful! It seems as if young adult fiction is practically driving the movie industry these days.

Here is a list of recent hit movies that began as Young Adult novels:

  • The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
  • The Fault in our Stars by John Green
  • The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak
  • The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot
  • Divergent by Veronica Roth
  • Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
  • The Maze Runner by James Dashner
  • Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

This is just a partial list. Hearkening back to earlier books and movies there are so many more.

And these lists don't even include Harry Potter!

Before these stories became famous movies, they were books read and beloved by booksellers and their customers. You could even make a good argument that movie executives are convinced to make a movie based on the success of a particular novel.

The teenage years are difficult years. There is nothing like a great novel to provide a means to help navigate the issues that inevitably plague kids during these years.

The Stuart Brent Book Club takes on the difficult task of reaching teens where they are. We try to engage them in the world of books, encouraging them to read more, think more, reach higher.

We'll find the books. You provide the armchair!
